Building an SEO Content Tracking Spreadsheet

So you’ve done all of your keyword research and have picked out the 30-500 pages of content you’d like to write over the next couple of years based on keywords that generate leads and sales, but none that generate ambiguous traffic, right? So what’s next?

The next step in the Search Engine Optimization process is creating what we call a Content Tracking Spreadsheet using SEO attributes as part of the content enhancement. These SEO attributes may include:

  • Keyword
  • Category
  • File Name
  • HTML Title
  • Meta Description
  • Heading (H1)
  • Image Name
  • Image ALT Attribute
  • Keyword Optimized Video Added (Y/N)
  • 450 Words of Unique, Non-Keyword Stuffed, Content

Don’t Leave Home Without It

You may think you know exactly what you are doing when it comes to SEO, but if you don’t have a Content Tracking mechanism in place, you risk having duplicate titles, Meta descriptions, or adequate content for the search engines to find your page(s) relevant. Or worse, you may not any of the above attributes accounted for. Having this tracking sheet will give you the peace of mind that you’ve followed all the right steps to create content around keyword themes you believe will drive sales and leads to your online presence.
